How to Make Yummy Desserts Featuring Fruits and a Recipe for Lemon Pineapple Party Punch
Fruits are not only delicious, they are healthy and make some yummy desserts. The recipes in this article feature some of our favorite fruits. Old Nellie’s Cherry Dessert goes together quickly and is wonderful served with a whipped cream topping. The Kentucky Fruit Dessert is based on an old dessert we ate in Kentucky. Being from Southern Indiana, we often crossed the Ohio River and ate in Kentucky where they served some wonderful food. This recipe is different but very good. The last recipe is for a Lemon Pineapple Party Punch which features the juices from these fine fruits.
LOW-FAT MANDARIN LIME FRUIT DIP
1/2 cup fat-free sour cream
1 tbsp honey
1/2 tsp grated lime peel
1/2 tsp grated orange peel
1/2 tsp lime juice
1/2 tsp orange juice
In a small bowl, combine all the ingredients and blend together well. Refrigerate several hour to allow the flavors to blend. Serve with an assortment of fresh fruit.
OLD NELLIE’S CHERRY DESSERT
2 cans cherry pie filling
2 sticks butter, melted
1 cup chopped walnuts
juice of 1/2 a lemon
1 box white cake mix
In a 9 x 11 x 2-inch baking pan, spread the two cans of cherry pie filling. Squeeze the lemon juice over the pie filling. Sprinkle the cake mix, dry, over the pie filling. Pour melted butter over the cake mix and sprinkle the nuts over the top. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Serve topped with whipped cream.
KENTUCKY FRUIT DESSERT
1 can pineapple chunks
1 can diced pears
1 jar maraschino cherries
1/2 cup sugar
4 tbsp flour
1 egg, beaten
4 red apples, unpeeled
1 cup white miniature marshmallows
1 cup chopped pecans
Drain the pineapple, pears, and cherries, reserving the pear and pineapple juices. In a saucepan, combine the sugar, flour, egg, the reserved pineapple juice and 1/2 cup of the reserved pear juice. Cook the mixture over low heat until thick, stirring constantly. Allow to cool. Remove the cores from the apples and cut into large chunks. Place the apples in a bowl; add the pineapple, pears, cherries, marshmallows and pecans. Stir gently to mix. Pour the sauce over all and chill for 24 hours.
LEMON-PINEAPPLE PARTY PUNCH
2 pkg (4-serving size) lemon gelatin
2 cups boiling hot water
1 can (46-oz) pineapple juice
1 small can frozen lemonade concentrate
3/4 cup sugar
1 tsp almond extract
1 bottle (2-liter) ginger ale, chilled
Mix the dry gelatin with 2 cups hot water and stir until completely dissolved. Add pineapple juice and lemonade concentrate to the gelatin mixture. Pour the mixture into a gallon jug and fill 3/4 full with tap water. Stir in the sugar and almond extract. Place in the refrigerator to chill. Add the ginger ale just before serving. Serve in a punch bowl with fresh lemon slices floating on top as garnish, if desired.

5 Simple Steps To Turn Your Hobby Into A Profession
As a business advisor I’m constantly approached by people who possess extraordinary skill or talent to do or make something. Through their own admission, many of them are not business people, but they have a burning desire to turn their hobbies into a profession. This article provides simple, step-by-step instruction on how to make it happen, and offers key considerations that should be taken into account when doing so.
1. IDENTIFY YOUR REWARDS
Most people who are passionate about their hobbies often find them cathartic or therapeutic. While this is beneficial for you, the monetization of your hobby must have inherent benefits for others. For example, a painter who enjoys painting relishes the process of painting. The sense of accomplishment that comes from finishing a “work of art” is their reward, and that may be enough for him/her. In order to successfully turn your painting hobby into a profession that will sustain you, you will have to make the distinction between the craft and the product and determine which one can be monetized to successfully pursue and obtain additional financial rewards from others who find value in what you have to offer.
2. SELLING THE CRAFT OR THE PRODUCT
Painters such as Leonardo da Vinci, were employed by kings to paint portraits. They were paid for services rendered (their craft). Their paintings (their products) which were not commissioned works of art, were sold for fortunes – usually after their deaths.
For the person who wishes to turn their hobby into a profession, they have to decide if they are going to sell the services of their craft, or a resulting product made from it. Getting paid from the mastery use of your craft essentially puts you in a service position that requires work that can only be done by you. Anyone can sell a product made by you. Investigate the pros and cons of each option. In many cases, you will have to do both.
3. CATER TO OR CREATE DEMAND
Unfortunately, for many who would like to turn their hobby into a profession, the dream dies here. If you bake cookies, pies, or cakes, there’s a high demand for them. There’s also fierce competition vying for the opportunity to feed that demand. Either you cater to demand, or you create it. By developing a niche for yourself – something that only you do – you will improve your chances of competing and succeeding in your marketplace. Your buttercream chocolate cake will not be lumped into the same category as chocolate cake and develops a unique brand – and following – of its own that only you can supply.
4. PAY YOURSELF
As obvious at it may seem, many people who attempt to turn their hobby into a profession often overlook the fine detail of paying themselves. It’s understandable; you are now transforming your hobby into a business which involves business transactions – none of which is more important than you paying yourself.
If you are seriously considering leaving your day job and making your hobby a full time occupation, just do the math. How much do you make per day at your job? Per month? Per year? This is a tried and true method of determining how viable your hobby can be based upon how much you decide to charge for your service/product. It also clarifies what your revenue goals should be when you turn your hobby into a profession.
5. CONSULT A TAX CONSULTANT
Most people who start a business don’t think about utilizing the services of a tax attorney until after the fact. They are a tremendous source of information and can prove to be an invaluable ally as your business grows, in addition to making sure that you don’t get into trouble with the I.R.S. for not paying your taxes or making imprudent deductions.
Finally, if you can retain the original passion that you have for your hobby when it becomes your profession, you will have created the greatest job for yourself. You just need to find the courage to take the proverbial leap of faith. Hopefully this article gives you a little more incentive to finally do it.

The birthday cake has to be the center of attraction for any birthday party, certainly after the birthday kid. There is no harm in not spending money over the cake, party cake decoration can easily cover that.
You must have heard about the theme parties which are easy to set up and are available in packages suiting the chosen theme. These party supplies makes your party appealing and that too with minimum effort. All you have to do is to place the thing in their respective order which you think will look good. The only difficulty is of choosing the theme.
Of course, you have also heard of balloons decorations that you can hang on the ceiling, walls, etc. And there is so much you can do with balloons. There are different kinds of balloons to choose from, namely latex and foil ones. There are also different shapes and sizes to play with. It is certainly more convenient than if you have to bake or make the decorations yourself, unless you are handy with this.
It may be a good idea to get your child involved so she can decide on the decorations she like best on her birthday cake. It would certainly be fun to browse through all the exciting images on the web-pages. The child cannot help but feel special with the fuss she is getting, but she deserves it. It is after all, her birthday, that happens but once a year. So do make a fuss of her birthday cake, if nothing else. And with cake decorations, this cannot be easier.

Cake Pans in 3 Styles – Traditional, Springform and Shaped Cake Pans
Different cakes call for different types of cake pans. Here is an overview of the three main types of cake pans that home bakers will want to have on hand: traditional round pans, springform pans and shaped pans or cake molds. Traditional round cake pans
One of the most versatile cake pans is the traditional round pan, sometimes available in sets of two. Shaped cake pans

Originally known as ‘Kandy Kake’ this bar of chocolate covered peanuts, caramel and nougat was introduced to the U.S in 1900. Similar to a Picnic, this product was first produced in Chicago by the Curtiss Candy Company who renamed it to Baby Ruth in 1921, supposedly in honour of the daughter of President Grover Cleveland. Nowadays it is manufactured by Nestle.
6. 3 Musketeers
Made by Mars Incorporated, 3 Musketeers is a chocolate bar with a centre that many people incorrectly refer to as nougat. Infact it is actually made of chocolate marshmallow and whipped cream. Launched in 1932 it originally contained three pieces in one package, flavoured strawberry, chocolate and vanilla, which led to the product being so named. Costing five cents when it was first introduced it was initially marketed as one of the largest chocolate bars on the market and something that could be shared with family or friends.
5. Milky Way
Created in Minnesota by Frank C. Mars in 1923, the Milky Way was the first commercially distributed filled chocolate bar. The name and taste of the bar was taken from a famed malted milkshake of the day, not the earth’s galaxy as many contend. In its first year of sales in 1924 the Milk Way generated $800,000 in revenue.
4. Butterfinger
Popularised by Bart Simpson this concoction of butter and peanut butter covered in milk chocolate was lauched by The Curtis Candy Company of Chicago in 1923.
